Two Victims Revealed in Brown University Incident as Authorities Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who lost their lives in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their shooter persisted following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a service on Sunday.

She served as second-in-command of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted sympathies publicly, remarking: “Words cannot express. Remembering her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

His name was verified by the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

An additional nine individuals were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a hotel about 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“A perpetrator remains free,” said the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you must reassess and go in another, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “It is expected to provoke fresh anxiety for our community”.

The gunman opened fire inside a classroom in the engineering facility on Saturday, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a authority told the Associated Press.

Police that searched the inn found two firearms and magazines when the suspect was detained, the news agency reported.

Condition of the Injured

Among those wounded, one student was discharged from care, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in serious yet stable state, and one was in critical condition, officials reported on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A pastor commented, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, shared a message from the club. “Ella was recognized for her courageous, valiant, and compassionate nature as she worked for her branch and peers,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the student's death in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to Mr Umurzokov’s family, friends, and schoolmates and grieve for of his promising future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the country's seventh most historic university with about 7,300 undergraduate and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least 392 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in this year, according to statistics. That Monday marked the 349th day of the year.
